    Finest Award 2024 Winners

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. – May 17, 2023 – The Health Care Communicators of Southern California (HCCSC) Finest Awards were announced this afternoon recognizing excellence in marketing and communication in healthcare. A record-breaking 125 nominations were received from organizations throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

    Gold, silver, and bronze awards were distributed in 38 categories, including public relations, digital marketing, writing, collateral, and special events. Winners were announced by Master of Ceremony ABC7 Los Angeles Health Reporter Denise Dador, and included:

      • Rady Children’s Hospital (10)
      • Maricich Health (8)
      • Loma Linda University Health (7)
      • Scripps Health (6)
      • Lifesharing (4)
      • Providence of Little Company of Mary and Scatena Daniels/San Diego Blood Bank (2)
      • Institute for Healthcare Advancement, Meehan Business Advisers, Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties, Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine, Reveille Inc., Salk Institute for Biological Studies (1)

Best of Show awards went to UC San Diego Health/Lifesharing and Scatena Daniels/San Diego Blood Bank (2) achieving the highest overall scores among all entries.

Two of the five HCCSC/AMN Healthcare Scholarship winners, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor student Zoe Levin and University of California, Los Angeles student Darcey Tran were also at the event and received $3000 checks from Liz Cunningham, VP, Digital Solutions & Customer Support at AMN Healthcare. The other three HCCSC/AMN Scholarship recipients were Stanford University student Mirela Guzman, San Diego State University students Cameron Patton and Emily Rodriguez.

The Communicator of the Year Award went to Nichole Ramirez, Senior Vice President, Communications and Donor Relations for Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties for her many accomplishments. She has navigated the organization through volatile political challenges and been featured in many high-profile news stories regarding sensitive health topics. She has also spearheaded efforts to inform patients, combat misinformation and organize support demonstrations, resulting in significant fundraising increases for the organization.
